10 Things You Can’t Miss in Miami: My Favorite Spots After a Week in the Magic City

My favorite places to eat, relax, and explore in one amazing week

I just spent a week in Miami and honestly, it blew me away. Between the sunny beaches, fun neighborhoods, and amazing food, it was one of those trips I’ll never forget. If you’re planning to go, here are 10 things you really shouldn’t miss and a few places I stayed and loved.

1. Wake Up for a Sunrise Swim

One of my favorite things was waking up early and jumping into the ocean while the sun was coming up. It’s quiet, peaceful, and the sky turns the prettiest colors. I stayed near the beach at Pelican Hotel and Life House, South of Fifth, so it was super easy to walk straight to the water. Also, Pelican Hotel provide the hotel guests sunbeds in South Beach and towels so you don’t need to worry about going to beach for renting any sunbeds or carrying a towel with you. Both hotels are really affordable and in perfect location just by the beach. You can click here to see prices of the hotel per night.

2. Breakfast at Pura Vida

I don’t even know how many times I ended up at Pura Vida after the first visit, I was hooked. Their food is fresh, healthy, and so good. I loved the açaí bowls, the chicken avocado wrap, and their iced matcha. The place has a chill, beachy vibe with lots of natural light and people hanging out after workouts or beach runs. It just feels so Miami in the best way. Every time I needed something easy and delicious, this was my go-to spot..

3. Explore Wynwood Walls and Street Art

Wynwood is one of the coolest neighborhoods in Miami it’s full of street art, colorful walls, and a fun, creative vibe. The most famous part is Wynwood Walls, where you can see huge murals painted by artists from all over the world. I spent a few hours just walking around, taking photos, and stopping for coffee and snacks at little cafés.

It’s not just the walls either the whole area has art galleries, shops, and cool places to eat. If you like art, bright colors, or just want to explore somewhere different, Wynwood is a must. It’s the perfect place for taking fun photos and seeing a different side of Miami.

4. Lunch at the Versace Mansion (Gianni’s)

One of the most unforgettable meals I had in Miami was lunch at Gianni’s, inside the legendary Versace Mansion (now called The Villa Casa Casuarina). Just walking in feels like stepping into a movie. The mansion is full of gorgeous details mosaic tiles, gold accents, marble floors, and Versace’s signature Medusa symbols everywhere you look.

The dining area surrounds the famous pool, with its 24-karat gold tiles shimmering in the sun seriously, it’s one of the most Instagrammable spots in Miami. I ordered the lobster pasta and a glass of rosé, and honestly, it felt like a mini escape to Italy. Whether you’re into fashion, food, or just love a good photo op, this place is 100% worth a visit.

5. Shop and Stroll the Design District

The Miami Design District is a fancy and fun area that’s great for walking around, even if you’re not planning to shop. It’s full of designer stores like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Dior, but there’s also amazing art and cool buildings everywhere you look.

I loved how clean and stylish the whole place felt there are big sculptures, fountains, and even fun photo spots around almost every corner. I stopped at the Dior Café, which is on a rooftop and feels super pretty and peaceful. Whether you go for shopping, coffee, or just to look around, it’s a really nice place to spend a couple of hours.

6. Dinner at Queen Miami Beach

Queen Miami Beach was one of the most beautiful restaurants I’ve ever been to. The inside feels like an old movie theater mixed with a glamorous nightclub dark lights, velvet seats, golden details, and everything glowing. The reason we have picked this restaurant just because we were looking for somewhere very elegant to celebrate our 10th years anniversary with my partner and we are so glad that we did!

When we walked in, there was a woman playing a grand piano right in the middle of the room, and it made the whole place feel even more special. It’s the kind of spot where you just want to sit and take it all in. We had sushi, wagyu steak tartare and a cocktail, and everything tasted amazing. If you’re looking for a fancy, unforgettable dinner in Miami, Queen is the place.. Pro tip: make a reservation well in advance.

7. Spend a Day at Nikki Beach

We spent a full day at Nikki Beach, and it was one of the best parts of the trip. It’s a beach club right on the sand with music, drinks, food, and big white daybeds where you can relax all day. It has a fun, tropical vibe palm trees, chill house music, and great people-watching.

We booked a daybed ahead of time (you can do it easily on their website), and prices usually start around $150–$250, depending on the day and location. That price usually includes a food and drink minimum so if you order lunch and drinks, it goes toward your total. We shared sushi, sexy crab salad (I still remember how amazing this salad was) and a big fruit platter everything was delicious.

If you want a fun beach day where you can eat, drink, tan, and swim all in one spot, Nikki Beach is perfect. Just make sure to book in advance, especially on weekends.

8. Cocktails at Sugar Miami

Sugar is a rooftop bar and restaurant on top of the EAST Miami Hotel in Brickell, and the view is absolutely stunning. It’s on the 40th floor, and you can see all of downtown Miami, the bay, and even the ocean in the distance. If you go around sunset, the sky turns beautiful colors and the whole city lights up it’s one of the best views in Miami.

The rooftop feels like a tropical garden in the sky, with plants everywhere, wooden furniture, and soft lights. You can go just for drinks the cocktails are really good or stay for dinner like we did. We ordered sushi, and it was super fresh and full of flavor.

It’s a bit fancy, so try to dress nicely (smart casual), and I recommend making a reservation, especially if you want a good spot for sunset. If you’re looking for a romantic night or just want to take in the city from above, Sugar is a must-visit.

9. Visit Bayside Marketplace

Bayside Marketplace is a lively outdoor mall right by the water, perfect for a mix of shopping, eating, and enjoying the views. It’s right in the heart of Miami, so you can stroll along the boardwalk and watch the boats, listen to live music, and browse through shops.

We grabbed some ice cream and walked around, checking out the boats in the marina and the bustling vibe of the place. There are plenty of restaurants with views of the water, and if you’re in the mood, you can even take a boat tour from here. It’s a fun and easy way to spend an afternoon or evening.

One of the popular spots there is Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. the restaurant inspired by Forrest Gump. It’s a fun, casual place to grab a bite, especially if you love seafood. We stopped there for some shrimp and cocktails, and it was a nice, relaxing way to enjoy the view of the water.

10. Take a Walk on South Beach

One of the best free things to do in Miami is just walk along South Beach. There’s a paved path that runs along the sand, and it’s perfect for a morning walk, afternoon stroll, or even just people-watching. You’ll see palm trees, rollerbladers, joggers, and lots of beachgoers it’s full of life and energy.

I loved walking there in the early morning, when the sun is just rising and everything feels peaceful and fresh. You can stop for a drink, take photos, or just relax by the water. It’s a simple but special way to enjoy Miami’s beauty.

Where I Stayed

I split my stay between two fantastic boutique hotels in South Beach:

  • Pelican Hotel – Retro-chic with oceanfront views and super fun decor. You’re literally across the street from the beach.
  • Life House, South of Fifth – Tucked away in a quieter corner of South Beach but still walkable to everything. It felt more like a stylish guesthouse than a hotel.

Both were great bases for everything on this list from sunrise swims to late-night dinners.

Miami has everything beautiful beaches, great food, fun neighborhoods, and lots of things to do. The streets are lined with tall palm trees, neon lights light up the night, and you’ll see flashy cars cruising by. From relaxing by the ocean to exploring art, shopping, and nightlife, there’s always something exciting to enjoy.

It’s one of my favorite cities, and I’m sure you’ll love it too. Whether you’re looking to chill or explore, Miami is a place that will make you want to come back for more!

Whether you’re planning your first Miami visit or heading back for another round, I hope this list gives you some inspiration. There’s so much to do, but these ten things really captured the magic for me.
